Cargo Charter Details
C043: Resupply Antarctic Research Stations |
---|
Constant resupply of the Antarctica Research Stations is a necessity. Large
bulky items, such as fresh water generators, electrical generators, and
building and research materials among others will need to be delivered to the
main resupply base for Antarctica, Punta Arenas Airport, Chile (SCCI). From
there, materials will be loaded either onto boats or smaller aircraft for
delivery to various Antarctic research stations.
Depart from Los Angeles (KLAX), stopping at Guayaquil, Ecuador (SEGU) for
fuel. Continue on to SCCI to offload your cargo. Return to KLAX to prepare
for the next trip.
On some occasions, there may be completed/in progress research
results/experiments/samples to be returned to Houston, TX (KIAH) for Texas A&M
University, or Chicago, IL (KMDW) for the University of Northern Illinois.
Planned fuel stops for the return to KIAH is Lima, Peru (SPIM) and for KMDW is
Guayaquil, Ecuador (SEGU).
Captain's are reminded to take care in planning these flights as the leg
lengths are very near the range limits for the aircraft involved.
