Cargo Charter Details
C061: Blue Crab Delivery |
---|
Maryland and Louisiana are 2 locations in the continental United States known for their great blue crab harvests. West Wind Cargo Division has just signed lucrative contracts with blue crab suppliers in both states to transport live blue crabs to points all over the US, Caribbean, & Central America. For Maryland you will pick up your cargo at KBWI, for Louisiana your cargo will be waiting at KMSY. Our cargo division mechanics have retrofit WWA cargo planes with salt water tanks and circulation pumps that will keep the crabs alive during their journey with us.
Pilots must take into consideration the amount of water in the tanks when loading their cargo and make adjustments where necessary to ensure the safe operation of the aircraft. Each of the tanks you will be transporting will be able to hold up to a maximum of 1000 lbs of live crab, with the weight of the tank, pump and water that brings each tank total to 9,500 lbs. Please add 8,500 to your ZFW for each tank you will place on board and only count crab cargo in your flight dispatch.
If you are flying to local destinations coolers or baskets may be used on smaller aircraft that cannot fit the live tanks. Crabs will live up to an hour out of water so you better not get stuck behind a line of planes waiting to take off!!
