Passenger Charter Details
P102: Deliver ATR 72-500 FR to WWA Hub or HQ |
---|
Until someone puts out a free-ware ATR 72, this charter is for Captains who own
the Flight 1 ATR. After completing checkout, fly a new ATR72-700 from LFBO
Toulouse, FR. to the WWA Denver HQ and TNG CTR. The ATR72-500
does not have the range to make it across the Atlantic. (In real life they
would probably equip the aircraft with ferry tanks).
Use Route 1 or 2. Route 1 - LFBO to EGPF Glasgow, UK., EGPF to BIKF Keflavik,
Iceland, BIKF to BGBW Narsarsuaq, Greenland; BGBW to CYYR Goose Bay,
Newfoundland, CYYR to your destination. This route was planned to minimize
the distance between BIKF and CYYR: Each flight leg is roughly 700-800 nm,
which is about 4 to 5 hrs flight time at normal cruise speed. The ATR burns
about 600kg/hr cruising at FL240, which leaves you a generous reserve if you
take off with full tanks (5000 kg).
Route 2: Same route to BIKF Keflavik, Iceland followed by BIKF to BGSF
Sonder Stromfjord, Greenland thence, the remainder of Route 1. We recommend
Sonder Stromfjord (BGSF) as opposed to Narsarsuaq. Sonder has a localizer and
will get you in lower than the NDB non-precision approach along a fjord which
may contain minor icebergs at Narsarsuaq. Sonder Stromfjord, Greenland is the
best option if weather for BGBW looks iffy. The option of BIKF to BGSF only
adds about 50 nm to the 3rd leg, but almost 200 nm to the 4th leg, well within
the ATR's range.
Do not fly to BGBW unless the weather is favorable. If the weather is below
minimums, hold until conditions improve or press on to Goose Bay (almost 700 nm
away) and hope for a good tail wind! Otherwise, Route 1 or 2 are mostly time
trade-offs. Direct from BGBW to BGSF is 377 nm. BGSF serves as best alternate
if BGBW is unusable. BGSF is a wiser choice than trying to make it to CYYR.
You may deliver this aircraft to any WWA Hub as well.
