This charter has four VFR options.
SMOKEJUMPERS The “Smokejumpers” are highly trained, self-sufficient US Forest Service Firefighters who parachute into remote areas to fight wildfires. Smokejumper bases: Silver City, NM (KSVC)Grangeville, ID (KS80) McCall, ID (KMYL) Missoula, MT (KMSO) West Yellowstone, MT (KWYS) Fairbanks, AK (PAFA) Fort Yukon, AK (PFYU) Cave Junction, OR (3S4) Redding, CA (KRDD) More information on the Smokejumpers can be found at Information Daily fire report with fire locations can be found at U.S. Active Fire MAP OPTION 1 The US Dept. of Interior contracted WestWind Executive Charters to shuttle smokejumpers from various bases to reinforce other bases where their staff is fully utilized. OPTION 2 The US Dept of Interior has contracted WestWind Executive Charters to supplement USDI's aircraft fleet capable of parachute operations. Pick up Smokejumpers from one of the listed bases and proceed to the active fire area of your choice on the map above. Drop from 10,000ft to 12,000ft (to avoid smoke) with speeds of 10 to 15 kts above stall. OPTION 3 The California Governor's Office has contracted the WestWind Executive Charter Division to fly high-ranking state officials VFR to assess the damage caused by forest fires in the foothills. Hundreds of acres of brush, trees, and homes burned down during the fires fanned by strong Santa Ana winds. Fly out of KLGB Long Beach and survey the area. Return. OPTION 4 The Governors of other states need their staff flown to assess fires in that state. Use the map above. Depart from the state capitol. Return.
