P234: Himalayan Sightseeing VFR |
---|
WestWind Charters is now offering tours of the highest mountains in the world -
The Himalayas.
Depart Katmandu (VNKT) in Nepal and proceed East. The first point of interest will be Mt Everest. If you are having trouble figuring out which mountain is Everest, it's located at 27 59 19N, 86 55 31E and rises to just over 29,000 feet. Do a circuit or two of the peak for the tourists. The next point of interest is a genuine Tibetan lunch at Paro, Bhutan (VQPR). This is a difficult airport so do your homework!!. After leaving Paro, continue east to the end of the range. Swing around the mountains and head to Hotan in China (ZWTN). Land here and spend some time enjoying genuine oriental culture. After departing Hotan, continue west to the end of the range and then head back to Katmandu. You can make this leg as long or as short as you like. Feel free to stop off at any additional stops your passengers’ request. Warning: Aircraft choice and loading is critical for this charter. You will need to fly around 30,000 feet near Everest, and Paro will require as light a load as possible. Plan well and stay safe. Himilayan sightseeing starts out easy, ends easy, but has a killer middle stage. The scenery is absolutely spectacular.
