P334: Tian Shan Exploration |
---|
The Tian Shan mountain range, literally translated to "Celestial Mountains", is in central Asia. This range is home to the northern most 7000 meter mountain, Khan Tengri. Every year adventurers will come to visit this mountain range and explore the untouched beauty that it offers. The country of Kyrgyzstan offers one of the most lenient travel accommodations and as such is a common entry point to this area. The city of Karakol in south-eastern Kyrgyzstan is a starting point for a lot of adventures into Tian Shan, and also Issyk Kul - the tenth largest lake in the world. For this charter you will fly our clients from Manas International Airport (UAFM) to Karakol Airport (UAFP). The Karakol area is located 173 nm on a course of 95 degrees from UAFM on the eastern shore of Lake Issyk Kula. You have the option of flying a Quest Aircraft Company Kodiak or a Grumman 21A and make a water landing at Karakol. See note below regarding FS9. Additionally, clients may ask you to fly them to South Inylchek Base Camp to give them access to Khan Tengri and Jengish Chokusu. The South Inylchek Base Camp is located at 42° 11' 51.57" N, 79° 11' 59.98" E. FS9 does not have Karakol Airport UAFP. It has an NDB named KARAKOL - KA (N42 31.10; E78 21.52) not far from where the airport would be. KA NDB appears in the scenery as a small shack with an antenna. In addition to a water landing option, FS9 users may land aircraft on open flat land outside the Karakol city area. Pilots with aircraft capable of landing on runways of 2,200 feet may consider a challenging option of landing in an open area beginning at KA NDB running East. Pilots have full discretion on where to land. Grumman G21 Goose Our hangar has only a FSX version. FS9 pilots who wish to fly the Grumman G21 Goose may download a freeware version from Mike Stone’s Hangar.
